SITO Awards

by Msecadm4921

This report ahead of a write-up in December’s magazine, the SITO National Training Conference 2004 entitled ‘Together We Can!’ saw SITO’s National Training Awards 2004.

The conference heard key-note speaker Sir Ronnie Flanagan outlining the results of Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary’s Thematic Inspection on Modernising the Police Service. A number of other high profile speakers were also present at the event. John Saunders, Chief Executive of the Security Industry Authority gave an update on regulation and answered questions from delegates on the subject; Derek Shaw of the MoD Career Transition Partnership outlined how the MoD assists those leaving the forces in finding new careers; Terry O’Neill of The Security Watchdog spoke about how companies can tackle the recruitment challenge; Justin Chamberlain of Jobcentre Plus emphasised the help available for security companies from the organisation.

What they say

"We were extremely pleased with the response to the event," said Stefan Hay, Director of SITO. "Delegates felt that the conference was as topical and thought-provoking as ever and all credit must go to our excellent speakers. The presentation of the National Training Awards was a particular highlight and demonstrated the outstanding talents of the many dedicated professionals we have working in this industry."

The National Training Awards 2004, which were presented by SITO Chairman, Tim Geddes, recognise outstanding practice in relation to training standards. Outstanding Training Partnership – O’Connor de Nais Consultancy Ltd and Lillywhites Ltd

Best Training Professional – Jane McKenna, Chubb Security Personnel Ltd.
