Software Relationship

by Msecadm4921

Viseum UK Limited, featured in our December 2004 edition, announce a new business relationship with CCTV manufacturer JVC Professional Europe.

Viseum is is a software package that makes CCTV equipment automatically think and react for itself, according to the manufacturers. With Viseum’s multiple camera unit it sees everything at once, and intelligently moves cameras to zoom into and follow certain behaviour, the manufacturers add. In short, it is claimed, Viseum technology is making CCTV surveillance less complex, more affordable, and better. The product records all events locally and tells operators what to look at or it takes a look for them. Organisations can now monitor more locations with fewer operators and with greater confidence than ever before, it is claimed.

What they say

Yash Patel, Executive Director, CCTV Europe at JVC Professional Europe Ltd, says: “JVC’s range of fully-functional dome cameras have the ability to be integrated with Viseum’s moving camera tracking system. The concept of the Community Safety Watch project is indeed very impressive. We are happy to support Viseum for this project and look forward to working with them in the future.”

Council target

For the national launch of Viseum-driven products, the firms report the target market is councils. The firms say that with urban local authorities seeking to extend their surveillance capabilities without a corresponding increase in their budgets, the full life-cycle costs of their operating systems become a vital issue. The balance between installation cost and operating cost is critical in determining the number of installations which can be afforded. The way forward, it is claimed, lies in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the existing control rooms and staff, so that without increasing running costs, more and better surveillance installations can be serviced. Product purchase and installation costs are so small as to pay for themselves within a few months of installation, it is claimed.

SafetyWatch

Meanwhile Community SafetyWatch is a new, not-for-profit, community based security project, which uses Viseum technology, and is being announced by Viseum’s partner SafetyWatch Limited.
