Scottish Water is protecting an Aberdeen site from fly-tippers with solar-powered CCTV from Puurgen.
Installed are a vandal-proof dome camera powered by a 180Watt-peak solar power system. The firm says that its power point tracker technology boosts solar capture by up to 40 per cent. Images from the camera are transmitted wirelessly via a 2.4GHz link to a digital video recorder. The DVR can be up to 300m away, the firm says. Described as carbon-friendly, the product eliminates the need to bury cable underground, the firm adds. Glasgow-based Puurgen provide renewable energy – besides for CCTV, lighting for parking meters, overhead motorway signs and off-grid places.
Puurgen was formed in February 2008. A sister company, Clyde Space, uses the same maximum power point tracker as in the solar powered CCTV, to power small satellites in space.
