Specials Hailed

by Msecadm4921

Popla HARCA, a registered social landlord has become the first in the country to support the Met Police (MPS) and sponsor their staff to become specials in the local community as part of a Met-scheme.

Employer Supported Policing (ESP) is a collaboration which seeks partnerships between the MPS and various organisations in London.

These organisations – such as retailers or universities – sponsor their staff to become members of the Metropolitan Police as Special Constables. These Special Constables then join Safer Neighbourhood Teams where their life skills and contacts reinforce the MPS commitment to the community as set out in the Policing Pledge.

Employer Supported Policing (ESP) scheme followed a recruitment drive launched by Tower Hamlets Borough Commander Paul Rickett at the Aberfeldy Centre in E14.

Borough Commander Paul Rickett said " I am proud to have Poplar HARCA as partners working with the local police on this initiative. They have been extremely enthusiastic.  They have made a commitment to support this scheme and it is hoped that their employees will enrol as Special Constables, where they will work with the MPS to make both Tower Hamlets and London safer, whilst increasing public reassurance and confidence."
