Lord’s cricket ground in London NW8 is the venue on November 16 for the Global Sports Infrastructure Conference.
The conference will be a chance for British companies to hear about opportunities about upcoming sporting events, and learn from British companies who have already been successful in this sector internationally. About 270 companies will be attending.
Across the world UK expertise is sought after to plan, develop, design, build and manage some of the world’s largest sports venues and events. More than £50m of business was won by British companies in connection with the Athens Olympics. The Beijing Olympics is generating $US 23 billion worth of infrastructure activity across the city, with a wide range of businesses across a great many sectors involved.
Speakers include: Tim Foster, Gold medal-winning Olympic rower; Simon Clegg, Chief Executive, British Olympic Association; Rex Danuqah, Chief Executive, Local Organising Committee for the Ghana African Nations Cup 2008. Ray Whelan, Consultant, Byrom Plc/Match Consortium and Professor Ronald Schloss, Finance and Stadium Security Manager of Premier Soccer League South Africa who will discuss South Africa FIFA World Cup 2010 opportunities.
Companies who will also be taking part include PKL, Europe’s leading supplier of portable kitchen equipment, which installed the catering facilities for the Athens 2004 and Sydney 2000 Olympics athletes villages, and Jack Morton, producer of the opening and closing ceremonies at both these games.
