Sports Contract Gains

A fall in losses from retail operations at this year?s Open Golf Championship has helped secure further sports contracts fo covert CCTV and manguarding specialists In Touch.

A dramatic reduction in losses from retail operations at this year?s Open Golf Championship at Lytham St Anne?s has helped secure further sports contracts for Lancashire based covert CCTV and manguarding specialists In Touch. Backed by a police referral, In Touch was appointed to organise security for the retail marquee at the 2001 Open Championship, bringing down losses to under one per cent. As big as a high street store, the marquee took over œ4m in four days from the daily intake of 60,000 visitors. Using CCTV equipment supplied by distributor Gardiner Security, the In Touch operation included the positioning of 15 guards and was managed at a remote monitoring centre 24 hours a day for the month covering build-up, the Championship itself and break-down. In Touch Managing Director Lance Shepherd says: ?Following this success, we are delighted to have been appointed for next year?s Open at Muirfield and also the Ryder Cup. Here we will be using a similar system, but with the addition of two speed domes.? In Touch as a business was started only in early 2000, and works with five police forces in the UK, supplying dispersed social alarms and covert equipment. It has been particularly active in fields such as alarm receiving, witness protection, domestic violence, bogus callers and homophobic monitoring.
