As part of a recent upgrade of CCTV at its freight terminal at Fishguard in South Wales, shipping company Stena Line has replaced its monochrome cameras. The new colour cameras provide port security plus monitoring of freight terminal traffic movements. These cameras complement the surveillance at the port by the police and HM Customs & Excise. Stena worked with local Sony SAIF (Sony Approved Installer Facility) installer Powersafe Security, based in Pembroke, who completed the complete CCTV camera changeover late last year. Sony SSC-DC-50AP fully functional and static colour cameras have been installed at the Stena Line terminal. All images are monitored within the main central Stena gatehouse, 24-7. Roy Harries, Stena Line Port Manager at Fishguard, says: ?It was on Powersafe?s recommendation that we installed Sony CCTV cameras for our new surveillance system. Now the cameras are in operation, we are seeing the benefits automatically with the enhanced quality of image for our operators, ensuring that all incidents are clearly monitored and recorded.” The SSC-DC50AP range are suitable within large sites such as Fishguard, thanks to the levels of camera sensitivity plus reduced smear levels. The cameras also provide controls including full automatic backlight compensation.
