Subway Bollards

by Msecadm4921

In Scotland Partick Station will soon notice the installation of safety bollards around entrance and exit points as SPT – Strathclyde Partnership for Transport’s planned security upgrades are completed.

The measures being put in at Partick are the last piece in the jigsaw for SPT, which has funded the installation of bollards outside all 15 Subway stations across the city. Luddon Construction will carry out the work to bring Partick into line with security work at all other Subway locations. The total cost of the project is £170,000 and is expected to be completed by April 2011.

The contract award, agreed at a meeting of SPT’s Strategy and Programmes Committee, is part of SPT’s commitment to ensuring passenger safety and the integrity of the Subway network. Gordon Maclennan, SPT Chief Executive, said: "The installation of crash bollards outside the entrances to Subway stations has been part of our ongoing programme of security enhancements. They provide reassurance to passengers and act as a visual deterrent to any criminal activity."
