Local Australian and international – including UK – speakers are among this year’s Australian Security Industry Association Ltd (ASIAL) conference in Sydney. The conference and exhibition runs from September 1 to 3 at Sydney convention centre.
UK speakers include Prof Martin Gill of trainers and consultancy Perpetuity, making a return visit; Gillies Crichton, Head of Assurance for Glasgow Airport (UK) on the aftermath of the ramraid terror attack; Gary Heward, director of blast and protective design at consultancy MFD International, on counter-terror target hardening; and Lincolnshire police assistant chief constable Peter Davies, ACPO’s security industry liaison man.
Prof Gill will go over recent work by Perpetuity on security strategy. As he says, over the past decade, security has become an increasingly important and integral component in the success of any organisation. Despite this, security managers continue to be challenged to justify their role and the investment made in security. The security function needs to be able to demonstrate it’s a worthwhile value added service to the organisation not just a cost to the bottom line.
