Syringe Threat To Guard

by Msecadm4921

Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses after a supermarket security guard was threatened with a syringe in Blackpool. At around 12.45pm on Sunday, 15 May, a woman was stopped outside the Iceland store on Topping Street on suspicion of shoplifting.

The woman became verbally aggressive towards the security guard and produced a syringe and threatened to stab him with it.

The guard let go of the woman, who then lunged at him with the needle before running from the scene.

The woman is described as white, of slim build, around five feet tall with short black hair and a longer fringe some of which is dyed blonde.

She had a dark coloured tattoo on one side of her neck and was wearing a black zip-up Nike jacket and black Nike trousers.

She was carrying a blue plastic, drawstring bag with a JD emblem on both sides and had a local accent and a deep voice.

Police have also released a CCTV image (link below) of a woman they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

PC Mark Mottashed said: "This was a very nasty and traumatic incident for the gentleman involved and he has been left shaken by what has happened.

"I would appeal to anybody who may have witnessed it to contact police. I would also like to speak with anybody who thinks they may recognise the woman in the CCTV or the description of the woman.

"This sort of crime will not be tolerated by the town centre neighbourhood policing team and robust action will be taken against those offending in this way."
