The OCS security team at Aberafan Shopping Centre in Port Talbot recently won the BSIA National Team of the Year award at the British Security Industry Association awards. The awards were presented at the BSIA AGM and annual lunch.
Security staff were nominated for their vital role in improving the reputation of the shopping centre and for working in conjunction with the police to maintain its security measures and procedures. The team is led by Chris Morgan MBE, who was recently honoured by HM the Queen for his work in reducing crime in and around Aberafan shopping centre and tackling anti-social behaviour in the town centre.
This is the fourth time that the team has been honoured with a BSIA award and shopping centre manager Steve Redmore congratulated the team saying, “Once again, I am absolutely delighted that the team at Aberafan has won the prestigious BSIA Team Award. Winning this award, recognises the hard work, dedication and commitment each member of our team, strives to achieve on a daily basis. Their loyalty to the centre and to OCS is unsurpassed and their sense of ownership ensures that the high standards that are set at the centre are achieved. They deserve every accolade.”
OCS and the centre management have set up a Business Crime Reduction Partnership to tackle problems such as anti-social behaviour, helping to reduce crime at the centre by 75pc.
