Petards is providing Southampton Container Terminals (SCT) with a security and traffic control system, including digital CCTV connected by fiber optic links, and automatic vehicle identification using Argus DCS (Damage Control System), a product from recently acquired Pentyre. Petards is working with SCT?s in-house systems and engineering departments to provide one of the UK?s largest container terminals with a CCTV based solution to support operational efficiency improvements as the port continues to expand capacity. Designed specifically to enable increased vehicle movements while maintaining security, the systems will also help record container images so that damage compensation claims can be readily verified. Petards will supply high-resolution CCTV, access control systems ? including a specially developed motorised card reader / dispenser, digital recording capability and a central control facility ? all connected by fiber optic links and integrated into SCT?s own sophisticated vehicle movement control software. That, together with their expertise in implementing major solutions for large organisations, gave us the confidence to proceed with an innovative and highly visible project.” SCT also requested an automatic identification and damage recognition capability to meet the growing need to inspect and record the state of all vehicles and containers passing through the container terminal.
