Text Stats

by msecadm4921

Last year we featured how the CCTV control room at Cambridge City Council was taking texts from the public.

Council CCTV manager Martin Beaumont reports the statistics from June to December 2006.

Total number of texts received: 336. Total crime or cause for concern related: 166 (just under half). Number of hoaxes: 0. Irrelevant texts: 170 (mainly mis-dials). Number of arrests: 5, and number of cautions or fixed penalty fines: 10. He adds: “Christmas and new year did not see any significant increase in texts received but this will have been due to heavy police presents on streets at key times. However number of relevant texts have increased from 30pc at the start to a fairly consistent 50pc. It is going well but I think we need to place a reminder of the service in the local media every so often to just remind people it’s there.”
