Rugby League stars are helping West Yorkshire Police kick crime into touch this summer.
The Force, with the county’s Super League clubs, have launched this year’s ‘Cop Trumps’ initiative.
Based on the popular card game, Cop Trumps will feature pertinent crime prevention messages which address issues relating to young people on one side and photos of rugby players on the reverse.
This year, key messages relating to anti-social behaviour will be highlighted on the cards and will coincide with Rugby League’s Respect Agenda.
New to this year’s card scheme, the Force has introduced the Legend Card, which features rugby legends of the past.
The Bradford Bulls, Leeds Rhinos, Castleford Tigers, Wakefield Wildcats and Huddersfield Giants will be distributing the cards within the communities and young fans will be able to collect the cards from their local Neighbourhood Policing Teams during summer events.
Rangi Chase of Castleford Tigers said: “Cop Trumps are not only a fun way of helping to create safer communities it is also a good opportunity for young people to get to know their local NPT officers as well.”
