Now in its fifth year, Terrorist Information New York Group (TINYg), has run two events in the United States.
David Evans, Chair of TINYg and CEO of Global Aware International, and Andy Williams, Vice Chair TINYg and Head of Security for Nomura International, met with their counterparts Kevin Cassidy, Chair TINYg and Head of Security of Thomson Reuters, and Phil Rogan, Vice Chair of TINYg and Head of Security for Bank of America, to run both conferences in the US.<br><br>The first, held at the offices of Mizuho Bank in New York City on Monday, April 4, hosted TINYg subscribers and their guests including serving law enforcers, government employees and other security and counter-terrorism people.<br><br>Among the speakers were Mike OโNeil, Chief Operating Officer of MSA Security, and the former Commander of Counter Terrorism in the New York Police Department, who developed the police response to all Counter Terror operations in New York City after 9/11 and until his retirement. Also speaking was Robert A Leonard, Professor of Linguistics at Hofstra University, on the use of Forensic Linguistics in criminal investigations around the globe.<br><br>Vice Chairman Andy Williams spoke about the impact of domestic extremism on organisations and individuals in terms of cost, reputation and morale.<br><br>The second conference, two days later on the 99th floor of the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower in Chicago Illinois. This event, which was managed jointly with CSARN and their partners in Chicago First, was a similarly huge success with delegates benefitting from panoramic views of Lake Michigan and Greater Chicago.<br><br>Among the speakers at this event were Robert Chatterton Dickson, HM Consul General at the British Consulate in Chicago, who represents HM Government and the FCO in particular in support of British visitors and businesses in the USA. He meets regularly with representatives of the Department of Homeland Security.<br><br>Co-chair Kevin Cassidy spoke of a real time bomb attack in Times Square New York outside The Thomson Reuters Building and an account of the incident he supervised, closely compared to the recent failed Vehicle Bomb attack in 2010 in the same area.<br><br>Jeff Dulin, who is Deputy Fire Chief for Charlotte North Carolina, gave a presentation into the work of the fire department in preparing for major incidents and training to ensure that in the event of such an incident, his fire-fighters and the community they serve, are best placed and able to provide an effective response. Jeff has briefed select committees in Parliament, and has provided training for Fire services throughout the world, including UK and Europe.<br><br>David Evans said โThis is a niche group that solely concentrates on countering the terrorist threat and providing information to our members, allowing them to assess for themselves the threat and risk.
