At the recent InterSec 2002 exhibition in Dubai, Synectics, the UK CCTV control systems manufacturer, announced the completion of a large traffic monitoring and management scheme for one of the largest of the seven Arab Emirates. After studying other systems, the Sharjah Government chose a Synectics-based surveillance solution for its operational flexibility and ease of expansion, primarily to cater for future camera growth. With a Synectics Tesseract SM video switching matrix, X250 P/T/Z joystick controller keyboards and DC camera telemetry receivers, the system is one of the first in the world to feature the Synectics? hard disc video recorder (HDVR). Offering recording, playback, and archive, the integrated Synectics system remotely controls a number of HDVRs, used to capture images from the system?s network of cameras. Seen at Synectics? InterSec stand, Phil Longley, Synectics? Sales Director, discusses with HRH Prince Michael of Kent the company?s products, as specified for the Sharjah scheme.
