Secureseal has launched SecureLocator, a new system that locates trailers using a combination of radio frequency identification (RFID) and GPRS communications.
The system electronically locates all trailers and optimises vehicle utilisation. It has been developed to minimise the cost on trailer, being up to 75 per cent less costly, it is claimed.
Secureseal says that the product provides a complete trailer asset management system. Through an internet connection, it provides automated 10 minute updates of trailer departure and arrivals at depots or key customer sites. The product allows search by trailer or depot, alerts for maintenance and MOT and data analysis for a range of useful management information reports.
Self powered transmitters are fixed to trailers, cellular hubs are plugged in on site, and trailer movements are available over the web. There is no need for underground sensors, gantries or GPS, the makers add, and the product works in workshops and underground.
As reported in Professional Security in October, there was a recent order from Christian Salvesen to fit their entire trailer fleet.
