JVC has introduced two new multi-screen digital video recorders: model VR-616E, a 16-channel DVR and the VR-609E, a nine channel DVR.
Pictures are recorded at a speed of 50 frames per second in Wavelet compression, which produces relatively small file sizes for maximum storage, according to the manufacturers. The DVR’s Tri-plex operation records images and enables the operator to play back recorded images in picture-in-picture mode and view
live images all at the same time. During playback, the DVR’s jog and shuttle dial can be used for forward or reverse playback at faster or slower speeds. There is the option of setting menus with the jog and shuttle dial or front button. Remote control of JVC pan/tilt/zoom dome cameras can be achieved from the new camera keyboard, model GSC-2000J.
The full function DVR features a 240 GB hard disk drive, facilitating internal storage, digital audio recording, playback, digital zoom functionality and the ability to export images to a removable media device and infrared (IR) remote control. Still images can be captured and stored via USB.
Using the removable hard disk (HDD) slot and the IEEE 1394 connection to connect to external Firewire storage devices, the system can be expanded to more than one terrabyte, JVC says.
Security administrators can use of the covert-channel function for monitoring highly sensitive applications. Only the administrator is aware of and authorised to view, record or playback video from cameras on the covert channel. The new DVRs offer built in 10/100 BaseT network access for IP integration and compatibility. The unit is controlled over a network on a PC through either a standard web browser such as Internet Explorer or via the viewer application that is bundled with each DVR unit.
Other features include motion detection, scheduled events, pre and post alarm recording and a choice of alarm triggers (including motion detection and extended alarm).
What they say
“The introduction of these DVRs is an exciting breakthrough for us. JVC has engineered these industrial grade DVRs for ease of installation, reliability and longevity. The feature – rich menu system incorporates a jog shuttle system that enables the easy review of recorded video data and bespoke operation,” says Greg Gregoriou, Senior Sales Manager, CCTV.
