The High Security Vehicle Lock is the result of a partnership between Deane Security of Bolton and French lock manufacturer HF Securite. David Ball, Director of Deane, based the lock on an HF Securite cam lock featuring 1.8m differs. Fleet managers until now, the partners report, have had the choice of fitting vehicles with identical locks or allocating each vehicle a lock with a unique combination – forcing fleet managers to keep a large number of spare keys. The product avoids both systems, giving keys specific to their vans, and fleet managers a single key permitting access to every vehicle. Dean only supplies extra keys once presented with the registration card that accompanies the lock on purchase. This carries two numbers, relating to the lock?s combination and the owner?s identification, both checked on a computer database. The cam lock, the partners report, is resistant to chisel attacks, picking and pulling, and features an anti-drill pin.
