Village By Design

by Msecadm4921

Future residents at Richmond Letcombe Regis, near Wantage, will be able to sleep easy in the knowledge that the new retirement village has received a Secured by Design (SbD) award, a national police flagship initiative which acknowledges the commitment given to the safety and security of residents and staff.

Secured by Design focuses on crime prevention at the design, layout and construction stages of homes and commercial premises, and promotes the use of security standards for a wide range of applications and products.  It supports one of the Government’s key policies which insists that a prime target of new developments should be the creation of safe environments where crime or the fear of crime doesn’t undermine quality of life or community cohesion.

David Campbell, crime prevention design advisor for Thames Valley Police said: “I was very impressed by the company’s pledge to the principles of the initiative which aim to ‘design out’ crime.  Richmond Letcombe has taken police advice very seriously and I am happy to present the village with the prestigious Secured by Design award.”

Paddy Brice, Richmond Villages managing director, said: “The team here was determined to provide the best quality environment for residents and staff, and safety and security was at the forefront of our planning. We are delighted that this has been officially recognised, and we hope that this endorsement helps to offer our residents complete peace of mind.”

The sales and marketing suite at the new development is now open and properties are available for purchase.  Visitors can view the show homes which showcase the different types of accommodation and care available at the village.  The first residents will be able to move in from February 2010.

The village, which nestles in landscaped grounds and includes lakeside gardens and a nature reserve, will provide a range of deluxe apartments. The Village Apartments offer a more self-reliant lifestyle and are designed to make life as easy as possible. These well-appointed homes include a kitchen, living room and one or two bedrooms, the majority also having an en-suite bathroom, and are priced from £295,000.

Those requiring more assistance can opt to buy one of the Assisted Living apartments.  These include a spacious living room, kitchenette, one or two bedrooms and an en suite shower room, and are a real alternative to a room in a residential care home.  Residents benefit from varying care packages provided by Richmond’s on site domiciliary care team, and hotel-style services that include food, beverages, daily maid service and laundry.  These homes are priced from £250,000.

A Care Home will also be located at the heart of the village providing 24-hour nursing care.  Within the Care Home there will also be a Memory Lane Community, catering for those with a dementia.

The facilities will include a restaurant, café, IT room and library, craft rooms, a bowling green, and a wellness spa with a swimming pool.

The sales office is at Richmond Letcombe Regis, South Street, Letcombe Regis, Oxfordshire, OX12 9JY, and open from 10am to 4pm daily.
