Sophos has launched a virus information feed service.
Sophos has launched a virus information feed service, enabling businesses, organisations and home users to display the very latest virus and internet hoax information on websites and intranets. The live display provides employees, customers and anybody browsing the website, with the very latest data on viruses, Trojans Horses, worms and hoaxes. The feed is free to anyone with a website or intranet, and Sophos automatically updates the information when a new threat emerges.
About the feeds
Sophos has developed three information feeds. Website owners can choose to display the latest ten viruses to appear in the wild, a chart of the month’s most common viruses and the ten most troublesome virus hoaxes of the past 24 hours. The layout,
design and colour of the feeds can also be adapted to suit the overall design of the website. Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos, says: ?When it comes to combating computer viruses knowledge is key. With hundreds of new viruses unleashed each month there is always the possibility that users will be caught out. These information feeds provide an instant checklist on which viruses and hoaxes to look out for, and ultimately help reduce the impact of future viruses and worms.? To initiate this service, website administrators need to insert a small piece of HTML code into their webpage. Sophos then automatically updates the virus information on a continual basis. The service is also
available as an XML RSS feed. Visit:
