Freight and logistics company DHL has replaced its existing access control system at its warehouses in Orebro, Sweden.
The new system controls access to 150 doors, which are equipped with Bewator card readers, and handles nearly 900 alarm points. The system, the Bewator 2010, integrates intruder alarm, access control, video management, and fire warning systems. The product also allows central control of one or more buildings and enables end users to act on all security-related issues, according to the manufacturers. Video from more than 120 cameras is linked to the 2010 system. CCTV footage is managed via a Bewator digital video management system, Eventys.
What they say
Jan Aronsson, the security and facility manager in Örebro, said: “We now have a facility with a very high security level and, in addition to access control and video surveillance, we also have a number of alarm points including magnetic contacts and passive infra-red detectors, as well as an alarmed fence that goes around the entire facility. Bewator 2010 with Eventys is a natural step for us in our ambition to certify the entire facility as a high security warehouse. We need to keep track of our staff and secure the access points in and out of the facility and have installed rotating gates at the entry points, which are controlled with the 2010. Cards are used to grant access to authorised personnel and also work as ID badges with photos, which are used to ensure unauthorised visitors are quickly identified.”
About the product
Bewator Eventys is a digital video and audio recorder and server that replaces analogue VCR, multiplexer, motion detector, and video transmission systems used in traditional analogue systems. It also features search functions, enabling users to retrieve images using Eventys’ search tools, and supports analogue and IP cameras simultaneously. Eventys also offers remote data storage and eliminates restrictions of physical distance by being accessible from virtually anywhere in the world via TCP/IP networks. Bewator 2010 has a range of built-in functions, including personal attack alarms and environmental alarms, as well as building management functions such as heating, lighting and ventilation controls. If required, all 2010 functions can be controlled from a single PC and its ready-integrated design means that new functionality can easily be added with minimal extra wiring.
