What Makes Security Tick

by Msecadm4921

What would make clients value security more? what are the planned changes in security spends? what makes clients change service providers? and how will clients respond to industry regulation?

These are some of the questions that Prof Martin Gill’s Security Research Initiative aims to answer

The initiative, backed by the BSIA, The Security Institute, and the UK chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security, will ask customer views on return on security investment, how security can be made more effective, and trends.

Prof Martin Gill, whose research company PRCI is doing the research, said: "There is surprisingly little research on clients’ views, very little information on the value of security, and no independent evaluation of what makes a security product or service more effective. The SRI will generate information that can make security companies more focussed, more effective and ultimately more competitive. It will also provide end-users with important benchmarking information. A number of security companies from the guarding, electronic and physical security sectors – as well as some prestigious end-users – are backing the initiative and they will have access to the findings long before the rest of the marketplace."

Sponsors become ‘members’ of the initiative and get early access to findings, and discounts on publications and training. PRCI is a ‘spin out’ company from the University of Leicester and is partly owned by the university. It is also part of the Perpetuity Group of companies, which include Perpetuity Press, Perpetuity Training and Perpetuity Conferences.
