Whats On At DSEi

by Msecadm4921

Unmanned surveillance helicopters with video links, sonar and radar, and an underwater hull surveillance crawler are among products on show at Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEi).

The land, sea and air defence and security exhibition, running every other year runs next from September 13 to 16.

Daily waterborne demonstrations, which will take place in front of a grandstand on the jetty, will include performance demonstrations from a number of small special forces craft, and a co-ordinated operation to cover equipment used in maritime security and boarding operations.

DSEi Exhibition Director, Duncan Reid, said: โ€œThe growing maritime content of DSEi illustrates the vital importance of this sector as nations across the globe seek more robust ways to protect sea lanes from piracy and prevent disruption to marine trade routes and offshore infrastructure. The exhibition and demonstrations will enable visitors not only to have hands-on experience of many of the systems but also to see some of them in action twice a day on the water right alongside the exhibition hall.โ€

Cranfield University will be displaying and talking about a range of their current projects. The universityโ€™s automatic Computed Tomography (CT) screening of unaccompanied airline baggage research project involves both the exploitation of existing techniques utilised in the medical domain for CT scanning and integration of established 3D image recognition and classification techniques. Funded by the UK Home Office Scientific Development Branch (HOSDB), the project was conducted in collaboration with the HOSDB, TRANSEC (Department of Transport), Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI), and Metropolitan Police Service.
