Guarding contractor Wilson James has announced results for its first 18 months of operations in Scotland, notching up an impressive £2m-plus turnover and a portfolio of top clients.
In that year and a half, the business has won several accounts including Johnson Controls, BP, Chevron, First Group and Subsea 7 with its security team growing from 15 to 77 staff over the same period. Client representatives joined with Wilson James at an event in Aberdeen on November 6 to mark this work.

According to the company, its policies, including a maximum 48 hour working week on all contracts, higher than average pay rates and a focus on staff development, [as argued by WJ director Stuart Lowden in public, for example at the SIA 2008 conference in May], have struck a welcome note with clients.

Wilson James Scottish director Jamie Macpherson says: ‘We find that our approach fits well with clients who have strong corporate social responsibility and health and safety cultures. We give our staff a work: life balance and, in return, our clients get rested, motivated and safety conscious security officers, creating a platform for us to add value to our clients’ organisations. There is plenty more business to be won in Scotland, and we are looking to expand in the Central Belt."

About Wilson James

It started operations in Scotland in early 2007 with a contract to provide security staff with Johnson Controls at BP, Dyce.
