Ashdown Park Hotel and Country Club has had installed in EMS Group’s Universe+ ACU universal wire-less interfaces as the basis for a recent security upgrade.
The 106 bedroom hotel, in East Sussex’s Ashdown Forest, is a listed 19th century mansion house. It was therefore paramount not to damage the historical interior of the building during the upgrade.
The ACU is a universal interface that connects any security alarm panel to the Universe+ range of wire-less devices such as PIRs, contact switches and break glass sensors. This enables a hard-wired security system to be expanded without the need to install extra cable, no matter what make of control panel is used, according to the firm. Utilising 868Mhz two-way secure communications, the Universe+ ACU provides it is claimed a low cost solution for system upgrades that can quickly be installed without disrupting business operation or damaging the fabric of the building.
The hotel used 16 ACUs to interface over 50 new wire-less devices to the existing security system. Each device can be installed in less then 10 minutes, which means room occupancy within the hotel is unaffected, according to the makers. The upgrade was also completed without the need to take the security system off-line and install cable between the security devices and the ACUs.
