Showsec ran a multi-faceted security and crowd management operation at the home of the Warrington Wolves rugby league team in June. Maintaining robust stadium security from car parks, emergency exits from ingress through to egress, Showsec staff also ensured customer service for all fans and hospitality guests.
At the Halliwell Jones Stadium, the safety and security of players, fans and VIP’s was Showsec’s a key priority, as the Wolves hosted the Leeds Rhinos in Super League.
Joe Taylor from Showsec’s Manchester office was project manager for the event, with support from Steve Williams in the role of senior supervisor. They oversaw a team of 33 security professionals and worked together with the Warrington Wolves stewards, stadium safety managers and other key stakeholders to effectively manage each area of the event.
Joe says: “Seven members of the Showsec team looked after hospitality, where duties included meeting and greeting past players, board members and other VIP’s, accreditation and health and safety. Showsec stationed stewards covering the car parking and external areas, such as specially allocated player and disabled guest parking, to ensure all visitors on the day were in the right place. Whilst checking vehicle credentials and directing traffic accordingly, the car park team maintained order despite the high volume of traffic, directing pedestrians safely at all times.”
The remainder of the Showsec staff were stationed over the concourse fire exit doors, ensuring these remained shut during the game and more importantly providing professional, approachable customer service, fielding enquiries from the public. They were also briefed and prepared for any emergency situation, with a full understanding of the strategy for safe ingress and egress in the event of an evacuation.
Joe adds: “This is our second season providing additional security and stewarding at the club and by providing a consistent, friendly, professional service we look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with the Halliwell Jones Stadium in the future.”
