BT RedCARE Vision is working with Transport for London to supply analogue video transmission circuits with telemetry-based monitoring for its congestion charging scheme. The deal, worth œ12m over the first five years, comes less than a year after Remote Vision joined forces with telemetry and alarm signalling firm BT RedCARE. The company will transmit colour pictures of vehicles entering the capital ensuring that picture resolution is suitable for recording and identification purposes. More than 80 per cent of local authorities in the UK have turned to BT RedCARE Vision, the company says, for town centre crime prevention and detection schemes, traffic monitoring, car park surveillance and concierge programmes. Keith Coomber, head of BT RedCARE Vision, said: ?Congestion charging is a complex proposal and requires specialist skills to implement and administer the scheme.? In November 2001, BT RedCARE launched an online service that enhances fleet (HGV and van) efficiencies by supplying vehicle and driver performance information in near real-time. Developed with Siemens VDO Automotive, the supplier of tachographs, BT RedCARE applies telemetry to relay data over a secure network to the fleet manager?s desktop within 24 hours of an event.

BT RedCARE, the alarm signalling company, are demonstrating at stand J100. The company reports it has more than 350,000 connections. RedCARE staff will be on hand to discuss the regional variations in the the ACPO alarm response policy. RedCARE is working with the BSIA (British Security Industry Association) in interpreting draft British Standards document DD243. On the stand will be free copies of the RedCARE guide to designing a sequentially confirmed system. RedCARE is the main sponsor in this year?s Young Apprentice Skills Challenge, which runs throughout the exhibition, giving apprentices the opportunity to demonstrate their engineering skills.
