British Security Awards

by Mark Rowe

The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has renamed its Annual Luncheon and Awards as the British Security Awards.

They’re on Wednesday, July 11, at the Marriot Hotel, Grosvenor Square, and as in past years will celebrate the achievements made by security officers and teams across UK private security, as well as acknowledging the contributions made by long-serving industry stalwarts. Categories are: Security Personnel, Security Business, Apprentice Installer, Chairmanโ€™s Award and the SaferCash sponsored Bravery Award.

Following on from the 50th anniversary of the BSIA in 2017, the rebranded awards will feature guest speaker Reverend Richard Coles. The cleric and well known broadcaster, who’s appeared on Strictly Come Dancing and Have I Got News for You, was a 1980s pop star as one half of The Communards, will also be presenting awards to the winners on the day. Other speakers include Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Sir Stephen House, who will present the SaferCash Bravery Award.

James Kelly, Chief Executive of the BSIA, said: โ€œThe British Security Awards is the national event that recognises the talent and commitment of our industryโ€™s finest. Weโ€™re looking forward to welcoming stakeholders and colleagues from across the industry to a fantastic venue for a special celebration of our industryโ€™s successes and achievements. Our membersโ€™ contributions remain at the heart of the Associationโ€™s ongoing success and by rebranding as the British Security Awards, we aim to consolidate this prestigious event as the main security industry networking opportunity of the year.โ€

The day includes a drinks reception and lunch as well as drinks after the awards ceremony.

Tickets for the awards are on sale now, with BSIA members benefiting from a discounted rate of ยฃ140 plus VAT.
