Cyber company winner

by Mark Rowe

During the three-day Infosecurity Europe exhibition at London Olympia, CheckRecipient was announced as the winner of a national competition to find the UK’s Most Innovative Small Cyber Security Company of the Year. Four competition finalists showcased their products in front of a judging panel and Infosecurity Europe audience.

Tim Sadler, Co-founder and CEO at CheckRecipient pitched his product which uses machine learning to automatically prevent sensitive information being sent to the wrong people over email. The CheckRecipient platform analyses historical email data to understand conventional sending patterns and behaviours, to detect when emails are accidentally being sent to the wrong people or intentionally being sent to unauthorised accounts.

Tim Sadler said: “CheckRecipient are delighted to be the winners of this year’s Most Innovative Small Cybersecurity Company. Infosecurity Europe is a hugely important event in the cybersecurity calendar, it’s where the world comes to do business for a few days, and it is great that we have the exposure provided by this award so that others can find out about what we’re doing and the problem that we’re solving for enterprises around the globe. Awards are really important for us – and we’ve been the winner of some fantastic awards so far. They show that there is credibility in what we’re doing and interest from the wider community, and they also help us win new customers and meet new people, something which is very important to our business.”

This year’s judging panel, chaired by Martin Chalmers, Managing Director, Aerospace Defence, Security and Technology, Atkins, comprised Nicola Whiting, COO Titania Ltd; David A Cass, Vice President and CISO, Cloud and SaaS Operational Services, IBM and Paul Crichard, CTO and Head of Technical Strategy, BT Security.

The other three finalists for the award, sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media & Sport and Atkins were: Dynarisk, Immersive Labs and iProov.

Twenty small cybersecurity companies went head-to-head in April to win one of 14 exhibition stands in the Infosecurity Europe, UK Cyber Innovation Zone where they showcased their products and services as well as delivering presentations in the Zone Showcase theatre. The award was launched in 2015 at Infosecurity Europe. The past winners of this award were Device Authority (2016) and Geolang (2015).

The 2018 show runs from June 5 to 7 at Olympia.
