The FIA (Fire Industry Association) AGM ran at the Brewery in London on Wednesday, November 11. The association announced that it had welcomed 71 new members into the organisation over the past 12 months and that membership now stands at 656. At the meeting the FIA reported that:
•6.6 million readers have been reached via social media, articles placed and through the website
•3867 people trained at 299 courses in the last year
•A £92K budget set a side this year for research projects with similar amounts expected every year.
FIA CEO, Ian Moore, has said: “I want the FIA to be the voice of the fire industry. The FIA is well respected and very influential in many spheres of engagement to ensure members’ needs are supported and we can raise the bar in our industry. Our strapline of “For professionals, by professionals” really rings true to me. With our brand new website being the portal to information for our members (and much to non-members as well), we are well placed to achieve this.”
The event was attended by 340 members and guests and provided the opportunity to network and catch up in addition to learning more about how the Association has been representing its members in the industry over the past 12 months.
This year the FIA has published its Annual Report at the AGM with an animated video of its highlights, first played at the AGM. The report can be downloaded from the FIA website: www.fia.uk.com.
