David White’s 50-year career in policing and the security industry has made him 2022 winner of the Gordon McLanaghan Award. David White, consultant, tutor and former police officer, is pictured presented with a piece of Bristol Blue glassware, by the Managing Director of Global MSC Security, Derek Maltby.
The CCTV consultancy Global MSC makes the award in memory of Gordon McLanaghan, who managed Bristol City Council CCTV and Emergency Control Centre, and who died in 2014. The award marks the contribution of an individual or organisation to security innovation and excellence.
David White was a police officer for 32 years. From 1997 he was the CCTV lead for Thames Valley Police and in 2004 he went into the security industry, working as a Global MSC Security consultant, as well as a Senior Tutor for Tavcom Training for 15-years. His relationship with Global MSC Security started 17 years ago, on a project for the government in Barbados. Since then, David has worked on control room management and operations, and governance of surveillance camera systems for Global MSC clients.
David White says: “Reflecting upon my career in the security industry I am especially proud of helping control room managers to ensure the practical but effective governance and operational standards of their CCTV systems. Secondly, and most important to me, has been the opportunity to teach and empower security professionals, at all levels, seeing them develop and flourish in the industry.”
