The Liberal Democrat Spring Conference runs at The Sage Gateshead between Friday and Sunday, 9 and 11 March. Northumbria Police say that they have been working closely with event organisers, local authorities and a range of other partners for several months in the run up to the conference to ensure the event passes off safely and securely.
ย
Police say that it will be very much โbusiness as usualโ both around the site and across the wider force area, with no planned road closures or traffic disruption for the duration of the conference. The Sage Gateshead will be closed to the public throughout – from Thursday to Sunday.
Assistant Chief Constable Steve Ashman said: “Weโre pleased to be playing our part in what is another prestigious event in the Northumbria Police area. Weโve been involved in previous party conferences at The Sage Gateshead and are looking forward to a safe and enjoyable event for everyone involved.
โAs with all large events weโve been planning for this conference for a number of months. One of our priorities has been to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum and weโre pleased that no roads have had to be closed.
“Weโd also like to stress it will be business as usual, and although weโll have officers working on this operation there will be no reduction to the service provided to all our communities across the force area.โ
