Brief:
A new textbook covering CCTV covers the same ground as trainers Tavcom and the late Mike Constant’s recently reviewed (July 2005 issue) book.
The two books are a similar price, too. Readers wishing to buy only one of the two should note that Damjanovski’s, though published by international firm Elsevier, has only black and white photography inside, and is far bulkier and heavier – and hence less portable – than Constant’s.
Vlado Damjanovski was born and began his CCTV career in Macedonia, moving to Australia in 1987. He reports how CCTV is experiencing a leap in technology using digital techniques and the internet. He covers the nuts and bolts of CCTV: CCD cameras, lenses, coaxial cables, fiber-optics, and system design, video compression techniques used in digital video recorders (DVRs).
