Brief:
Drugs Addiction and the Law, by Leonard Jason-Lloyd (sixth edition, 2001)
Previous editions of this publication were previously recommended by me as a valuable reference tool. Previous purchasers would have received updates, easy to insert into this well made loose-leaf publication. This service of updating continues to this sixth edition. It includes changes that collectively place 54 substances under the control of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. Other additions include dealing with drug traffickers, drug testing and further legislative changes to the law on the misuse of drugs. Today the law relating to the possession of controlled drugs is far from simple. This latest edition is therefore a valuable contribution. It includes excellent case studies and special circumstances regarding possession. Powers of police and the public regarding drug offences are covered; therefore, this will be of importance to public and private police. Also important are a chapter on the characteristics of the most commonly abused drugs; a table of statutes, police powers of stop and search; and an index to drugs. The author Leonard Jason-Lloyd has been a management trainer, and security manager, and has lectured to NHS trusts and the police.
