Software development

Samsung has added to the software development companies whose video management software (VMS)  integrates with its cameras, DVRs and network recorders (NVRs).

Axxon, Aimetis, Digifort, Griffid, Ipronet, Exacq, Genetec, ISS, Milestone, Mirasys, ONssi and Seetec are now among VMS companies that Samsung has been working with because of their ‘open’ software that can work with equipment and systems from different manufacturers. Tim Biddulph, IP Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd, said: “Customers throughout Europe trust the Samsung brand and, with our ability to offer a one-stop-shop for analogue, hybrid and IP network based video surveillance solutions, they are quite often sourcing all their video product requirements from us. However, we recognise that in a tough economic climate, we must ensure that customers achieve the full benefit from their investment in a security system. This means providing customers with the option for Samsung products to be controlled and monitored alongside equipment produced by other manufacturers. Working with VMS companies is very much a part of our Smart Security philosophy which is primarily about making it easy for customers who are looking for a gradual transition from an existing analogue system to a full IP network based surveillance solution.

“The functionality of the software available from the various VMS companies will not of course be identical but, regardless of which platform customers choose, they can expect to be able to have a high degree of control of cameras and recording devices from various manufacturers, as well as the flexibility to integrate, for example, video analytics, access control systems and mobile devices. We would of course advise all customers to seek advice from their suppliers on what is achievable before making a decision as to which VMS they should work with.”
