Eurotunnel extend

by Mark Rowe

A contract extension with Groupe Eurotunnel SA, for a total value of £12m, has gone to the FM and guarding contractor Mitie. Mitie’s total security management business was originally awarded the contract with Eurotunnel for the Channel Tunnel between Britain and France in 2010. The guard firm says that it was awarded the contract based on its technology-led innovations, such as a traffic management system and real-time automated scheduling, which will increase efficiencies and reduce costs.

Bob Forsyth, Managing Director of Mitie’s total security management business, said: “We’re delighted to be furthering our partnership with Eurotunnel through our sector expertise and innovative thinking from one of the largest sector-dedicated operations in aviation and transport.

Rob Gregory, Head of Security, Eurotunnel added: “In our 20th year since shuttle services began through the Channel Tunnel, Eurotunnel is pleased to extend its partnership with Mitie. Over the last four years Mitie has proven itself to be an effective and cost efficient partner with the ability to understand and meet our unique requirements specific to the day to day operation of the Channel Tunnel.” Visit www.mitie.com
