Video analytics

by Mark Rowe

At IFSEC International 2014, Digital Barriers are showcasing their new SafeZone-edge embedded video analytics. SafeZone-edge is described as an automated intrusion detection system.

The makers say that an intuitive and quick setup procedure includes a function that allows multiple cameras to be calibrated automatically in a single step. This reduces setup effort, thereby saving time for installers the company says.

A default intrusion detection scenario and user-defined rules cover typical perimeter security and sterile zone monitoring uses. An analytical engine enables the product to detect in even, it is claimed, adverse weather and variable illumination, with automatic adjustment for seasonal changes and day-night operation.

SafeZone-edge has achieved accreditation under the UK Home Office i-LIDS evaluation. The product is certified as an i-LIDS approved primary detection system for operational alert use in sterile zone monitoring applications – as well as being an i-LIDS approved event based recording system for sterile zone monitoring.

IFSEC International 2014 will feature the latest version of SafeZone-edge, with a range of multi-camera automated setup options, VMS meta-data overlay, and device support with extended range detection mode. The product is available through value added resellers and distributors. It’s described as a fully embedded application, for installation on IP cameras and encoders. It has launched on ACAP, the open camera application platform developed by the network camera manufacturer Axis Communications. At IFSEC 2014, Digital Barriers will be exhibiting with Axis, on stand E1000.
