Access Control

Browser-based update

by Mark Rowe

SATEON, the browser-based access control system from Grosvenor Technology, has received a new update.

The access control system offers integration with more hardware. With release 2.8, SATEON can now communicate with Galaxy Intruder and Simplex fire panels; and Aperio wireless lock systems. Market adoption of wireless electronic locks will continue to grow the firm says. These systems can avoid the need for extensive wiring, and offer the potential to use smart phones as access keys via NFC (Near Field Communication).

The feature development on SATEON has led to upgrade demand from users of the company’s Janus legacy system, the firm says. Thanks to the intuitive migration tool within SATEON 2.8 it now takes a few clicks to upgrade these customers.

SATEON allows system managers and security staff to login on any PC or Mac via a secure portal, hence no need for other software. This saves set-up time and server space for IT departments. The tasks supported range from monitoring visitor movements in real-time, to producing custom management reports and setting automatic alarm protocols such as automatically focusing CCTV cameras on the source of an alert.
