Mobility launch

The Dutch access control product company Nedap has launched ‘Nedap Mobility Solutions’ within its business unit ‘Identification Systems’.

Nedap Mobility Solutions offers wireless vehicle detection sensors to assist motorists in finding a parking bay. City access control systems keep pedestrians in shopping zones safe while letting in taxis, police and ambulances .

Maarten Mijwaart, General Manager of Nedap Identification Systems, said: “There is a growing demand for traffic flow optimization systems. However, this requires a specific set of skills, methodology and vocabulary to successfully implement these in demanding urban environments. With the introduction of Nedap Mobility Solutions, we will bring together all activities related to traffic flow optimization in such environments. Our portfolio includes our system for wireless vehicle detection (SENSIT) and our system for city access control.”

And Edwin Siemerink, Proposition Manager of SENSIT, said: “We expect to expand and improve our systems for mobility in urban environments in the near future. The current interest in intelligent transport systems (ITS) in combination with upcoming technologies, such as the Internet of Things, offers numerous opportunities to address the mobility challenges of smart cities. We are at the dawn of a new era in which we will solve the mobility challenges of our ever growing urban environments. Nedap Mobility Solutions can contribute to this solution, with promising ITS concepts and ready-to-use products that help solve the mobility challenges of today.”

The products offer identification of vehicles and people using RFID and ANPR will remain under Nedap Identification Systems.
