PTZ radar integration

by Mark Rowe

The sensor and camera positioning product company Overview has recently released the Hydra family of pan, tilt and zoom cameras, which have been designed to support integration with wide area sensors. Overview is in the process of integrating with technologies including video, RADAR, LIDAR, and thermal imaging.

In November 2016, Overview completed interoperability testing of the PTZ camera with Ogier Electronics’ Scan-360 radar detection system, pictured.

Scan-360 is a ground surveillance security radar with the ability to detect humans and vehicles up to a range of 200m, the makers say. When integrated with Hydra the Scan-360 automatically steers the PTZ to obtain high resolution HD-IP images of the detected target for validation and evidential purposes and then follows that target.

Overview’s Hydra is the first HD-IP external PTZ to complete inter-operability testing and be approved by Ogier, and the company is to promote Hydra through distribution and installer channels for its all-weather, multi-terrain threat detection, suitable for a range of surveillance applications, the UK companies say.
