Health monitoring

by Mark Rowe

With the G-Health Monitoring product, the German video product manufacturer Geutebrueck is offering a software package for monitoring of performance data of its video security systems. The package consists of local clients, a central server and web interface.

According to the defined, configurable rules, the client reports any discrepancy of its system to the central G-Health server with minimal network load. The G-Health server can manage up to 1000 G-Health clients (NVRs), ordered by clients and locations. Incoming fault messages are processed in real time according to their priority and reported via email or as an alarm in the G-Health web interface.

Hence a user can define that an email should be sent once the measured operating temperature of the hard drives exceeds a certain value, indicating that a failure of one of these wear parts may be pending. And a statistics and history display with various display filters is of interest the product company adds for long-term analysis of the functionality of a system. The manufacturers recommend this software package for operators, installers and technicians who are responsible for maintaining and servicing Geutebrueck video security systems, for real-time detection of failures, and trouble-shooting. The firm points out this can save on on-site maintenance, and preventative tests can be performed remotely.
