Hikvision UK gain Cyber Essentials Plus

by Mark Rowe

Hikvision UK has gained Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, for its UK and Ireland operations. That’s the British Government-backed, independently assessed accreditation, run by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). Gary Harmer, Sales Director for Hikvision UK and Ireland, hailed the award as the only manufacturer in the sector to have received that level (others having gained the more basic Cyber Essentials level). The award covers the security of the company’s own IT, rather than its products. Gary said: “Cyber security is a real hot topic in the security industry so naturally we are delighted.”

Done through five independent testing houses, the Cyber Essential Plus accreditation process covers various areas for protection against potential cyber threats and attacks. These independent testing houses assess products through internal testing and vulnerability scanning and a Cyber Essential Plus accreditation is only awarded when they are fully satisfied that the tested products do not pose a risk to the wider network.

Gary Harmer, Sales Director for Hikvision UK and Ireland, said: “Cyber security is a real hot topic in the security industry so naturally we are delighted to have been awarded Cyber Essential Plus status.”

Hikvision are on stand D300 at the IFSEC International 2018 exhibition between June 19 and 21. And Hikvision, among the sponsors of Security TWENTY 18 North at Harrogate on July 5, are giving a product update at the morning conference.
