Cyber

AI award

by Mark Rowe

A cyber-security firm has won the Artificial Intelligence Business category at the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards 2019. Since being set up in 2013, Darktrace has used artificial intelligence; the firm’s entry was the demonstration of a security deployment at a large US municipality. Darktrace discovered and stopped attackers from exploiting a critical misconfiguration; had the cyber firm not identified and stopped the attack before damage could be done, the criminals would have gained access to the personal data of thousands of citizens.

Poppy Gustafsson, CEO at Darktrace said: “To develop artificial intelligence that actually works in the real world is no easy feat. Darktrace is the most prominent example of AI in the enterprise and it is an honour to receive this award in recognition of that engineering innovation, which is relied upon by thousands of organizations worldwide to help them automatically fight back against cyber-attacks.”

The judges commented: “Staying a step ahead of cyber criminals is critical to ensure systems are resilient to attack. Darktrace clearly demonstrated how implementation of AI has improved business infrastructure and is combating future cyber-attacks. Congratulations to the whole team on this well-deserved win.” Judges for this category included; Alex Boast, Advocacy & Propositions Lead at Experian and Miles Nolan, Associate Director at IFC Advisory.

The cyber firm based in San Francisco and Cambridge, UK recently launched on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Visit https://www.darktrace.com/en/.
