Only remotely monitored CCTV systems installed to BS 8418 can qualify for a Unique Reference Number (URN), issued in accordance with the revised ACPO policy by the local police authority to guarantee a level one (immediate) police response. The guide is designed as an aide-memoire for installers and covers the main elements of the standard including: CCTV system design considerations; detector/camera positioning and configuration; CCTV performance and integrity commissioning; and audio challenge.
