The recent opening of Carling Academy Newcastle, extends Showsec’s partnership with the Academy Music Group (AMG), the Leicester-based event security staff supplier reports.
The firm adds that its work with Carling Academy Newcastle includes developing and managing the venue’s crowd management plan.
Showsec Northern Regional Manager Mark Logan reports that the firm has worked with AMG in selected venues across the country for years delivering tailored crowd management plans. Crowd management strategies implemented in the Liverpool and Birmingham Academy venues have been adapted to suit Carling Academy Newcastle.
The contract staff firm says it has employed a team that combines experienced managers and newly recruited local staff who have been trained to work as in-house security stewards, with newly attained SIA licences.

Mark Logan said: “There was clearly a lot of excitement about the new Academy opening in Newcastle and we had no problem recruiting some very capable staff to work with our more experienced managers. We’re looking forward to working with General Manager Polly Woodbridge and Group Operations Director for Academy Music Group, Steve Forster to make this the happening venue in Newcastle.” Live events and club nights will feature at the Newcastle venue. Such change in use requires the building to be efficiently cleared after live shows and prepared for club nights, the contractor says.
