Business Continuity Event

by msecadm4921

July 7 is among the topics at Business Continuity – the risk management expo 2006 on March 15 and 16.

Geoff Dunmore, operational security manager, London Underground, will discuss the 7-7 bomb attacks in the capital and the transport system’s response; management of incidents in several places; command and control issues; the impact on the business and employees, such as dealing with trauma; and recovery planning. Assistant Commissioner (Central Operations) Stephen House is invited to give a Metropolitan Police view of 7-7, covering the need for good communications between businesses, and partnerships between the emergency services and commerce.

John Wilson, director, group security, at Euronext.Liffe in the City of London, and Trevor Partridge, head of business continuity at retailer Marks & Spencers, are part of a panel discussing how to integrate business continuity (BC) with internal audit, risk management, and IT and physical security.

Other speakers on March 15 include consultant Dennis Flynn, of Crisis Solutions, on a market-wide BC exercise in the financial sector.

Also part of the conference is a case study on how the US recovered from last year’s Hurricane Katrina; and a seminar by Insight Consulting on testing and exercising your BC scenarios and crisis management plans. Other seminars, on March 16, cover BC for local authorities, led by Sarah Alcock of Norfolk County Council; and telecoms resilience and protection of ‘information infrastructure’ such as computer networks.

Organisers of the exhibition and conference at ExCel, near Canary Wharf in London Docklands, are Reed Exhibitions. For details fax 0870 609 1094 or write to Business Continuity Expo, Profile Events, PO Box 9800, Shirley, Solihull B90 9AJ.
