Joint Seminar

by msecadm4921

The Defence Industry Security Association (DISA) and The Security Institute are running a joint seminar on July 8, at the Victory Services Club in London W2.

The topic is cyber-security: threats and vulnerabilities, such as: what sensitive information is left by users of their mobiles, laptops and USB drives?! Organisers say:

‘Security is a process not a product.’ (Schneier, 2001) You might have the best sophisticated software/hardware technologies, but your staff (without proper awareness) could bring in the threat of corporate espionage; thus, exposing the organisation to various cyber vulnerabilities.

With our national infrastructure now heavily reliant on IT, the understanding of cyber security is very important for businesses. Businesses with an on-line presence are on the increase and subsequently so are the number of cyber attacks. The web presents many opportunities not only for organisations and individuals, but also for cyber-criminals.

This seminar will take the basic concept of hackers attacking the weakest chain by implementing a penetration strategy to identify vulnerable information security standards. The basic vulnerabilities and threats in the technology used will be revealed and an overview of risk mitigation techniques will be discussed. Delegates will also be provided with a glimpse of forensic analysis, to show what sensitive information is left by users on their system; mobiles, laptops and USB drives etc.

Places will be allocated on first come, first served basis. More details and booking forms can be found on the institute online Diary of Events; or by visiting –
