BID joins ABCP

by Mark Rowe

High Wycombe BID is the latest Business Improvement District to become a member of ABCP (Association of Business Crime Partnerships).

They will also have the benefit of joining with other partnerships in the South Midlands regional group of partnerships to share best practice and exchange information about business crime in the area.

Oliver O’Dell, chief executive of High Wycombe BID said: ‘Now that High Wycombe has a Business Improvement District company, we have made huge strides forward in strengthening our business security partnership. Not only has the BID “Safe and Secure strategy” invested in new digital radio infrastructure and revamped the intelligence-sharing system over the last twelve months, but it has also delivered monthly restorative justice sessions with young first time shoplifters, overseen new formal sector groups, employed a town ranger and retained the town’s Purple Flag award for another two years.

‘Our aspiration is to become one of the leading BIDs outside of London and our security partnership work has a key contributory role. We have an extensive background in this area of work and so joining ABCP is the next logical step in dealing with travelling offenders alongside those who are home-grown. I am delighted to be working alongside our regional colleagues and look forward to jointly driving our partnership activities.’

And Mike Schuck, operations director for ABCP said: We are delighted that High Wycombe BID has joined our growing organisation. It will strengthen the already considerable representation of BCRPs in Thames Valley Police area and provide a better service to businesses and police.’
