The annual Wilf Knight Award, presented as part of the IFSEC Security Excellence Awards in London each November, went to James Eaton. Now in its seventh year, the award goes to the writer of a piece of research into a security management-based subject. The winning paper covered ‘Key Performance Indicators For Information Security Management In The Public Sector’.
James, a post graduate student at Buckinghamshire New University, was the unanimous choice of the judging panel who praised the work as an original piece of applied research with definite appeal to IT security managers, policy developers and scholars within the traditional security management field, the information security discipline and broader business continuity.
Garry Evanson, Chairman of the Security Institute and a member of that panel said: “This work is an excellent example for other students to aspire to and is a validation of the importance of the annual Wilf Knight Award in bringing to a wider audience some cutting edge thinking on security issues that might otherwise go unnoticed. We are delighted to be the promoters of this important award.”

James has produced an excellent piece of research which has reflected not only the hard work and specialist knowledge that he is applied to his Masters, but also to the work and effort of the academics and delivery teams at the University.”
James Eaton is employed by Lockheed Martin UK as an Information Security Manager. He is based in London, where he provides service integration and management to the Ministry of Justice.
